Shetland Folk Festival
The annual Shetland Folk Festival is a major international event and is certainly the largest musical event in the Shetland music calendar. Held during the final week of April, the five-day Folk Festival features a spectacular line-up of local and international traditional music stars. Eddi Reader, Aly Bain and Phil Cunningham, Elvis Costello and Mark O’ Connor are but a few of big names to have performed at the festival in the past.
Shetland comes alive during the festival, with concerts held in halls throughout the islands. The festival is also renowned for spontaneous ‘sessions’ before and after the formal events.
